Geary
Geary is a rural community south of Oromocto, bordering the Oromocto River and the base's training area. It takes in small communities such as Haneytown, Waterville-Sunbury and French Lake. Expect country lots, private wells and septic, and quick access to the base.
Gagetown village
Gagetown is a historic Loyalist village on the west bank of the Saint John River, now part of the village of Arcadia. Despite the name, it has no direct access to the base. Members drive to Oromocto. It suits people who want village charm, the river and a slower pace.
What to know before you buy
- Well and septic are standard. Test water quality and quantity, and inspect the septic system before you go firm.
- Check insurance early, especially for older homes, wood heat or riverfront properties.
- Internet service varies by road. Confirm what's available at the address if you work from home.
- Winter commute: drive the route before you commit.
