Why families choose Oromocto
The biggest draw is time. When the base is a few minutes away, early starts and late finishes are easier on the whole family. Shopping, schools, rinks, parks and the riverfront trails are all close, so a lot of daily life happens inside town.
Oromocto also understands military life. Neighbours come and go with postings, and newcomers settle in quickly.
Burton, next door
Burton sits just southeast of Oromocto along Route 102, next to the base's training area. It's a quieter, more rural option with bigger lots, while you're still only a short drive from the gates and Oromocto's shops.
What to know before you buy
- Homes turn over with postings. Spring and summer bring the most listings, and the most competition. Being pre-approved and ready to write an offer matters.
- Older and newer homes sit side by side. A good inspection is worth it, especially on homes from the 1960s and 70s.
- Rural lots outside town often have a well and septic. Make your offer conditional on water and septic inspections.
- Thinking long term? Many members keep their Oromocto home as a rental when posted out. I can help you weigh it up.
